I found a "work around". Place a "Layout Grid" and make it a single cell. Next, set the width of the layout grid to 1200 (it actually "works as advertised") and then place my flex grid inside of the layout grid. Now, all pages display as intended. Thanks for your assist...

That was what I tried first. Problem is, the image won't stay confined to the size of the image as placed on the page or even within the confines of an image placeholder.

The limitations of the gallery extensions are what I am trying to solve by making my own gallery using prettyphoto lightbox.
