WYSIWYG Web Builder goes 64 bit!

Post by Pablo » Wed Jun 21, 2017 9:18 am

WYSIWYG Web Builder 12 (64 bit) - BETA VERSION.
This is the next big step in the development of WYSIWYG Web Builder: a 64 bit version!

The standard version of WYSIWYG Web Builder is a 32bit application and although it will run fine on modern computers, it does not use the system in its full potential.
For example a 32 bit application can use a maximum of 2 GB system memory. 64 bit applications do not have a limit.
Also WYSIWYG Web Builder 12 (64 bit) was developed and compiled with the latest development tools.

Creating the 64 bit version has been a lot of work and many changes have been made to the source code to make sure all code is compatible with 64bit systems.
This also means that things may work differently or new bugs have been introduced because the source code is different. So please be aware that this version may not be as stable as a regular release of WWB (yet).

If you find any issues with the version then please let me know so I can fix them in the next update. Note that it may take a few months before then final version will be ready, but I think this is a good start...

If this version does not start then your system probably needs the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install run-time components.

Extension support:
This version only supports extensions that were created with Extension Builder.
This means that most extensions from the website (http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/extensions.html) will not work (yet) because these are 32-bit applications.
64bit versions of these extensions are planned for later this year.

All third party extensions should be working just like in the 32-bit version.

Backwards compatibility
The 64bit version is compatible with the 32bit version.
However the 32bit version is NOT compatible with the 64bit version!
This means that you can open 32bit projects, but you cannot open 64bit projects in the standard (32bit) version!
