Optimization Suggestions

Post by Paul Wrigley » Sat Apr 21, 2018 8:21 am

Hi All,
Can someone explain what I need to do regarding (Below), this is from Google PageSpeed Insights.

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 1 blocking script resources and 2 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:

https://abbeyservice.org/index.css

Thanks
Paul

You can do this by enabling (tick/checked) the following options in Tools->Options->HTML
Generate external JS file for page specific scripts
Move JavaScript to the end of the page
Move external CSS style sheets to the end of the page

Hi BaconFries,

The suggestions that you have mentioned all say 'USE WITH CAUTION'. I do not want to seam ungrateful, but have you tried this yourself.

Yes like many others have that use the software. The caution is for the likes of if you yourself have added a external script/css (embed) to the page, then generate as a external file which could break it. In some cases scripts need to run in the <head></head> so it not advisable to use this feature so hence the caution. But in general it is safe to use with the scripts generated by the software without issue.
