Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Hi Paul,
Using your excellent Awkward Showcase, and getting my head round how it works.
I setting it up it on http://www.angelauren.co.uk/gallery.html and it looks like its just the job for my client.
I'm using the Tooltip to give the details of each painting, but want to avoid users accidentally clicking on the Tooltip Cross (or double tapping on a tablet) and linking/opening a new tab/page - albeit the same page.
I can't see a way to have a link that 'does nothing' - but then I'm no expert!
Any suggestions, please

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Don,
I wouldn't use the +icon to display the painting details - I would use captions. Why make the customer work?
The tooltip +icon is meant to be used to provide extra or special information and is there to allow the visitor to hover to see that extra information and, CLICK to get even more by visiting the link you set. Think of it as an enhanced information provider not as the primary information giver. So the tooltip is designed purposely to have the ability to link to a new page and there is no option not to have a link....thus I wouldn't use it the way you are.
If anything I would show a caption of the painting name, method, size and price and make the +icon link to a purchasing page so the +icon becomes a "buy now", or if you are unable to do that then make it go to a contact page of some kind to make further enquiries.

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
I understand what you say, but the idea of using a tooltip in this case is that the info' is NOT immediately visible - perhaps letting the viewer 'like' the picture before he sees how much it costs, etc.
I seem to have found a solution that works for me, by setting the AllToolTip Target Windows to Same Window, and the link to an 'empty' Page in this Project - so the page just reloads
I should have spotted this before posting, but with a new extension it takes time to find all the options.
Thanks for your reply, anyway. OOOOOOOPS!
Just tested this and had not realised that as it reloads the page, it goes to the first picture rather than staying on the one where the tooltip was clicked - so back to the drawing board!

Don,
If you want to use Awkward for this I suggest using the caption but have it delayed and then use the tooltip to link to a BUY page or a CONTACT page.

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Paul,
Many thanks for the suggestion - using Captions instead of ToolTips, I could not find 'Delayed' but, with How will captions appear set to Hover looks like the way to go for me.
I can't get the caption to disappear on an Ipad, but that may just be my own 'finger trouble' and not a big deal anyway.
I could not find any setting for the caption width - although the full width I have at present will do if it not adjustable.
Just to check - is there a way to check that I have the latest version, just in case there is a later one that DOES have a Delayed setting?
Your help with this is much appreciated. Don

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Don,
My mistake - the delayed caption was a setting I was trying to implement but could never get the JS to work, so I never released it. When I checked earlier I must have opened that version not the live version.
You might have more options available to you using Camera Slideshow?

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Hi Paul,
Me again with a couple more queries:
I am displaying pictures using the Awkward Showcase at http://www.angelauren.co.uk/index.html
as on this page
Some of the pictures are square, and some rectangular, but the thumbnails are all rectangular.
Not a big problem, but is there any way that the thumbnails can reflect the large view shape?
Also - again not a big deal - but as shown for the second picture, I tried reducing the thumbnail height for one of the rectangular pics, but got the grey area (arrowed). Is there any way to change this to white ?
Many thanks

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
Don,
I am sure the thumbnail background probably could be changed but I don't have the time. I am happy to fix bugs but at the moment I am not adding to or enhancing any of my extensions.

Paul,
OK - As I said, no big deal
Does the same situation apply to the thumbnail shape ?

Re: Awkward Showcase (FREE)
This is for Adendum or anyone who might know...
Is there an easy way to make Awkward Slideshow loop instead of playing once?
Also, does anyone know if there is an easy way to change the nav arrow images?
...or, does anyone know of a similar extension that permits these mods?
Thanks in advance!
PS: I found a thread on the autoplay stopping problem. Perhaps Adendum could update the extension file with this fix and rebuild it?
1.- Open "jquery.aw-showcase.js"
2.- Go to line 226, it should be:
if (myInterval) { pause_loop = true; clearInterval(myInterval); }
3.- Replace it with:
if (myInterval)
{
if (options.stoponclick) { pause_loop = true; }
clearInterval(myInterval);
}
4.- Save.
