Inserted snippet

Post by cmsintent » Fri Sep 22, 2017 5:40 pm

Good Morning Pablo

I have a client who has an SEO company involved in their marketing.

The SEO company give me a snippet to add to the index file and wants this between the head tags.

I inserted the coding using the PAGE HTML > Between <head></head> tags

This placed the code on Line 1073 just above the </head>

The SEO company would like this closer to the top (they want Line 4)

THEN I TRIED

PAGE PROPERTIES > Meta Tags and enter the coding in the USER DEFIINED field. This places it on line 12 which they will have to live with if this method is acceptable.

My question is ... inserting the code in the Meta section of the page, is this an issue?

The code is <script type="text/javascript"> a bunch of stuff </script>

Thoughts?

No, the code will be inserted "AS IS".

I understand the 3rd party code won't be affected ...

Was just wondering is a <script></script> mixed in with the <meta stuff /> would be an issue

Usually scripts should be place at the end of the header or page, because they may affect the speed and rendering of the page.

Hi Pablo ... sorry to be a pain

For some reason the publish is removing a bit of the code

I add this code to PAGE HTML - Between head tags
<script type="text/javascript">var rl_siteid = "ad6260cc-433c-4b55-ba0b-be14be894bfc";</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="//cdn.rlets.com/capture_static/mms/mms.js" async="async"></script>

I publish and when I view the index.html source I see
<script>var rl_siteid = "ad6260cc-433c-4b55-ba0b-be14be894bfc";</script>
<script src="//cdn.rlets.com/capture_static/mms/mms.js" async="async"></script>

NOTE: the type="text/javascript" is missing right after the <script in the published file

I am using today's build of the program.

This is nothing to worry about and will be ok. The reason that the following type="text/javascript" doesn't show is because you have most likely set the page to use HTML5 and under this it is obsolete (under HTML5) and no longer used anymore.
HTML 5
Note now I am not being rude to you or your client but any good SEO company that's worth there salt should know this although it can still be used it is preferable not to under HTML5. Hence why you should avoid using them as most are only money oriented at the end of the day.

No problem - you are NOT being rude... it is one of my clients who hired them and I am thinking along the same lines as you!

Thanks ... makes total sense.

Thanks for all you do!!

Have a great weekend.

NOTE: the type="text/javascript" is missing right after the <script in the published file
That is because you have selected HTML5 in the page properties.
