rss feed in Jquery mobile

Post by rkusa » Wed Oct 25, 2017 7:59 pm

Using 12 latest update. Is there a way to add an RSS button using J Query.
I see News feed in the toolbox, but RSS feed is grayed out.
My pages are one column.
The RsSS feed option is available for non J Query pages.....but my whole site in now JQ Mobile.

I'm sorry this feature is not available in jQuery Mobile pages.
As a work around you can place it on a standard page and then copy this code between the head tags:

Code: Select all

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS Feed" href="rss.xml">

Can you please check my page http://www.relentlessknives.com/yourknife.html
As you directed....I think?
I had an rss feed on a non JQuery mobile page. then copied the html of the feed object, and added it to my JQ mobile page. It seems to work in Firefox, but on Google Chrome it just brings up the xml file.

As for the workaround you suggested, I don't know if I should add code between the head tags of this page or not ....?

So I make a new xml file each time the page is updated, and manually publish it. After the viewer clicks the orange button, they will receive the future up dates....is that correct?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Chrome does ot have a built-in RSS feed reader. So this is expected behavior.

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS Feed" href="rss.xml">

Do I add the title of my xml file to the code?
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Available Relentless Knives"href= "yourknife_rss.xml">

Also what will the code do when added?

Yes, you can change the title.

The code will add a references to 'yourknife_rss.xml', which I assume you have placed on the standard (no-mobile) page.

<a href="yourknife_rss.xml"><img id="RssFeed1" src="http://www.relentlessknives.com/rss24.png" alt="Relentless Knives USA Available Knives Page" style="position:absolute;"></a>
This is just a link to the file.

If you want RSS readers to recognize it then you will have to add the link between the head tags:

Code: Select all

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Available Relentless Knives"href= "yourknife_rss.xml">

Please attempt it with your reader, and let me know if it is working there.
