Hacked page

Post by mikew » Sat Jan 27, 2018 5:20 am

Not sure if this is strictly WB related but maybe someone will have an idea.
For the last few days spam e-mails (hundreds of thousands) have been sent out from our Godaddy cpanel default e-mail address. I have now discovered that somehow one of our pages appears to have been hacked:- /tell-a-friend.php
Deleted the page from the server and the e-mails stopped immediately, re-uploaded from WB and the e-mails immediately started again, so, I assume, that it is not a case of some script having been added to the page.
Anyone got any idea how to prevent this? Should I change anything in the tell a friend form property box?
Thank you.

I don't think the page has been 'hacked'.
The 'tell a script' script sends emails to the specified email addresses, that is the purpose of the script.
So if you do not 'protect ' it with some kind of captcha then anyone can misuse to send random emails.
