Help determining which object(s) causing scrollbar

Post by etcbbu » Wed May 16, 2018 7:48 pm

Hello,

Please note that when you visit these following pages on a smaller/mobile device (with the 320-Pixel-Width-Breakpoint), you get a scrollbar. And even utilizing the "Render Hidden" objects within WB, and then also trying to open it in a Desktop/Laptop browser and make the screen-width small enough to force loading of the 320-Breakpoint and try finding the problem-objects that way, I cannot seem to find the culprit. Can someone help me figure out which object(s) are? Again, it's these pages, when you look at them on their 320-Pixel-Width-Breakpoint:

http://coleac.com/aboutus.php
http://coleac.com/hvac.php
http://coleac.com/appliances.php
http://coleac.com/team.php
http://coleac.com/kitchengourmet.php
http://coleac.com/faq.php
http://coleac.com/contactuserror.php
http://coleac.com/contactussuccess.php

Not every page of the website is doing it, and also the scrollbar is of different widths on different pages where it is happening; and so I don't think the culprit-object is in my "Master Objects"/"Embedded Pages" anywhere.

Dang.

I just tested something on the "Team" page because it is a small one:

It appears that some of the child-objects that are attached to various parent-Layers--even Layers that are hidden on the 320-Mobile-Width Breakpoint--have some child-objects that, even though they, themselves and the Layer onto which they sit are hidden on the 320-Mobile-Width-Breakpoint, whenever they are back-loaded, reach outside of the 320-Pixel-Width. So, looks like I'm in for a lot of "Unhide Layer and Object", "Remove Object From Layer", make sure its Width and Position are within 320-Pixels-Wide, and then re-hide--and then on-down-the-line for every object -_- .

Note that you can use 'Reset position' in the Object Manager context menu to quickly move an object inside the view.

See also 'There is a large is empty space at the bottom (or right side) of my page.'

WYSIWYG Web Builder 12 now supports a new layout option to control the behavior of hidden objects. Tools->Options->HTML->CSS visibility property.
This option controls the way objects are hidden. When using 'visibility:hidden' hidden objects will not be visible but they still affect the layout (just like in previous versions of WWB).
On the other hand 'display:none' removes the object from the layout so it no longer affects the size of the page.
This can be useful when hiding objects that are not inside the page boundaries in breakpoints. Note however that this may also change the behavior of event and third party code, so test thoroughly before using this option.

When I use "reset position", where's it gonna place it? 0,0 ?

@Pablo:

1) I love you. I just fixed my "About Us" page in record-time because of that new understanding you gave me, about that "Reset Position" about which you told me. I literally never knew what that option did, I had only ever accidentally clicked it when trying to do other things, and never really through-through what it did. Thank you for this. This is probably going to save me SO much time.

2) Very--VERY interesting, as far as that other thing, where we an edit. I have a couple of projects that have HUGE "blank" pages for that reason..I'll look into that.
(example of a project of mine with such large empty-spaces: https://seamfoundation.org/prayingpartners77.php )
