Insert Symbol

Post by jrd440 » Mon Jun 11, 2018 5:57 am

I'm running windows 10 and WB 14. When I go to insert symbol and try to add a bullet point I get ( " ) instead of the bullet point. Please tell me how to correct this. It was working fine in WB 12. Thank you for your help.

I think this is related to a recent update of Windows. It looks like Microsoft has broken symbols in the latest update of rich edit (the editor used by WWB).
For me, it also no longer works with WB12.
I will investigate if I can find a workaround.

I did some further testing and it seems that only the Arial font behaves like this.
Other fonts works correct for me.

Note that the text editor is a standard Windows functionality (richedit/msftedit.dll), so I have no control over this behavior.
However, this has happened before and the last time this problem occurred, Microsoft fixed it within a few weeks in a Windows update.

Try changing the "Text Box" options

Options (programs) -- General -- Text Box
Initial Text: make this field empty (delete the source text)

Eliminate Text Box problems:
- hieroglyphs instead of letters
- invalid symbol
