Blog Problem

Post by LTH » Fri Jun 29, 2018 1:31 am

I'm trying to change the layout under the style tab of the blog and no matter what I change it to when I upload it to the server there is no change. I can preview it in webbuilder and see the changes but not after uploading it. Never had this problem before going to version 14. Any idea where to look to fix this problem? Thx

Did you publish with the same name and in the same folder as the previous page?
Are there any errors in the publish log?
Did you view on another computer so you can be sure it's not a caching issue?
What is the URL of the page?
Which changes should we see?

Thx Pablo for the reply. I'll answer in the order you asked the questions.

1: Yes
2: Never used the publish. How do I view it?
3: Yes
4: http://cbclc.org/resources/pastor_blog.html
5:There should be a blue background where it says "From The Desk of Pastor Jody" July 01, 2018

I pretty sure it's got something to do with the CSS file not uploading but have no idea how to fix that. Thx for any help with this.

One other thing, it makes no difference what Layout I choose it never changes in the browser but it does when I do a preview in WYSIWYG Web Builder.

My bad I found the log.

*** START OF PUBLISH ***
Scanning publish folder...
Found 2 file(s).
Initializing FTP connection...
Checking host...
Host was successfully parsed.
Connecting to home617264272.1and1-data.host...
Using PASV mode.
Succesfully connected.
Current directory is '/'
Setting remote folder to /...
Status: 550 resources: File exists
Status: 550 resources/css: File exists
Status: 550 resources/images: File exists
Uploading 'resources/css/pastor_blog.css'...
Successfully uploaded file.
Uploading 'resources/pastor_blog.html'...
Internet Exception Error 12029

Details:
A connection with the server could not be established
Closing FTP connection...
Removing temporary files...
Publish failed!
*** END OF PUBLISH ***

Looks like it's a problem connecting to the server.

If I run the test it shows connected as I can see all folder etc. but I can't transfer any files.

I've come to the conclusion it has to be something to do with WYSIWYG Web Builder. My settings are exactly the same as they were in Version 12. The reason I say this is because I can manually upload the files with Filezilla and everything works just fine. Any other suggestions?

Maybe the server space is full?
Or maybe the file/folder is read-only?
Or maybe you had configured winsock (instead of wininet) as the FTP engine in WB12?
Or maybe your firewall blocks the connection?

I doubt that this is directly related to WWB, becuase 'Internet Exception Error 12029' is a system error (generated by Windows/wininet)

Maybe your host no longer supports standard FTP and now requires SFTP? . In Filezila SFTP may be set as the default so that would explain no issues. What are your timeout settings? are you using winsock or wininet? If using wininet switch to winsock and try again.

BaconFries hit the nail on the head. I had to download the FTP Extension. What really bothers me is I was on the phone with them for 2 hours last night and they never mentioned it. Thx for your help BF! By the way just in case somebody else runs into this the host is 1and1.

Glad to have helped. If you had any call charges I would be getting back to 1&1 about this and complaining that they should have informed you about any changes to the use of SFTP over FTP you might get a rebate or a discount when renewing your package. Unless it was a 0800/Toll Free number then you wouldn't get anything...but worth a try..
