Slideshow Portrait/Landscape

Post by deejayw » Fri Jul 20, 2018 9:34 am

I have played with various methods of displaying multiple images and I can see a number of inspirations for future projects, however...

I want to offer slideshows with many images(20-200!). Preview images are therefore not acceptable (Photo Collage/Gallery)
The best option appears to be the simple Slideshow but my experiments have failed to show me an example that visually handles the dimensions of a mixture of landscape and portrait images automatically.
Is there a setting I have missed, or is there a better tool to use ?

Thanks for the rapid response, as usual.
The grid view is undesirable with so many images.
I quite like the 'Unite' gallery example (in your link) for my purposes but I don't see a way of adding multiple images, at one time, to the dialogue. Obviously adding single entries would become somewhat tedious with up to 200 images !

You can add multiple images by holding down the 'SHIFT' key while clicking the Add button.

Just a suggestion, but I would never recommend to any of my clients to have a slideshow with 200 images. No matter what slideshow you use, the page will drag trying to load that many images. Also, I can't image anyone sitting and sifting thru 200 images.

Curious, what is the gallery for?

Ahhh! not the old shift click trick, who wuda known !
Anyway, 'Unite Gallery' doesn't handle mixed portrait/landscape well either !
Despite the handicap of Flash dependency (for some clients), I may have to stick to my current, third party slideshow insert.
Thanks for the help though.

It's not just your client(s) 'Flash' is not supported by browsers, it is also not supported in Apple iPhone/iPad and Android devices. So if you use for a client then his/her site will suffer as visitors won't be able to see the gallery due to the depreciation of 'Flash' and it's use in today's Web Design.

With so many images it would really help to have them reduced in file size automatically, wouldn't it? Consider your vote over here: http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum/ ... 28&t=81815

Fancybox in the lightbox option on Slideshow can handle all your requirements. I also tend to use a lot of images which is why I do a bulk resize before adding to SlideShow. Looking at setting up the option to use Fancybox 3 instead of the default as explained by Pablo earlier is probably worthwhile. Example here:

Everything is addressable - see the option in Fancybox documentation on the web.
Automatically goes to touch mode on mobiles / small screens.
