Re: fonts

Post by Pablo »

First note that I have been trying to help you as fast as I can, but without the project there was not much I could do.
So, immediately after I was able to download your project I posted my feedback (on Sunday).

Did you correctly install the font on your system? Because if the font is not installed for all users then the converter tool will not be able to find it and the conversion may fail.
Again, I would like to note that your project works for me, so there is most likely a problem in the way the font is setup on your system.

I had pages of reply,
and it got lost somehow.

simply,

I republished the whole site to fonttest,
after deleting almost all of the files.
last change is there. fonts are there.
font-face not mentioned in the page source,
and the font does work on the publish computer, but on no other

vircen.com/fonttest/Final-SSL- New-Web-temp-with-problems.wbs

I see wysiwyg publish the font file to the server,
and the font is on the server
the page source code says incorrectly arial,
but on my computer it shows correctly as national-primary.ttf.

I think there is a error,
a conflict between the font applied as a style, as text
and the program gets lost.

I apparently broke a rule doing that,
but have no idea what it is, and no error message.
it shows one thing, and does another.

the big symptoms are-

font face is configured but no mention in the page source code
the page source code says arial, which is in error
but my computer does not use arial, but the correct font.
ttf fonts is uploaded to the server.
font-face is not an uploaded item.
publish computer shows page correctly,
computer on the other desk shows
the arial font the page source call for.

very interesting!!

I made a second directory, /fonttest2 on vircen.
vircen.com/fonttest2/
many-fonts.wbs is the program. it is in that directory.
(no fonts were uploaded in the upload report?)

I made a new single page, added 3 blocks of text, fonts, and published it.
I looked at the page source.
all three block source looked ok, and the fonts seemed ok

"A" publishing machine always showed the correct font.
even on page 2

text block one failed on the B computer,
text block two and three passed.

so I swapped block one and two.
the problem moved with the block.
I deleted that block and added another.
I kept adding more text blocks, and adding new fonts.
on the "B" computer,
the problem was always with text block 1,
which kept failing.
on more than one page.
with the second page added,
(and maybe the master removed) still no fonts.

font after font is correct.
text block 1 always is wrong.
on page one
never another block, always text block 1 would not format.
the page source always showed the correct font in the code,wb_text*
but text block 1 always failed.

"B" computer:
I added a second page and a masterpage with a page menu.
I added a text line, text 1,
and it also failed.
2nd text block failed on page 2 also.

I took out the masterpage.
page 2 text 1 font worked.
page 2 text 2 font worked.

Can you please check if the font was successfully installed on your system?

See my first reply:
Thanks for sharing the files.
However, I did not find any issues. The project and font works for me.

A possible reason why it does not work for you, may be because the font was not installed correctly.
Did you install it for all users?

When the font was installed successfully then you should see it in this list (in the registry):
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
This is what it looks when I publish the page from my computer:

pablo

yes the font is installed correctly,
and that is why all the other programs like a**be i*d****n can see it and use it.
how could I pick a font that is not installed from a list of installed fonts?

In Windows, there are two ways to install fonts, for the current user and for all users.
If you install the font for the current user then you can use the fonts in applications (via enumeration), but you cannot access data about the font (like the filename, which is required to convert the file to another format).

Do you see the filename in the registry?
