I have a style, called "table_normal" which has a bolded font, different colour and a larger size.
When I select the text in a table cell and try and apply it, nothing changes (I can select the style and click OK). If I apply it in normal text, it changes.
is this expected behaviour?

Re: Styles I create don't seem to work in table text
If you set the style in the table properties. Then the style will be applied the table itself (container), not to the text inside the table.
To set a style to the text you will have to select the text and then apply the style.
See "Using styles on Text"

Re: Styles I create don't seem to work in table text
Thanks - but then I can't select multiple cells and apply the same style to the text in each of them.
Not to worry - I can live with this.
PS - to select multiple cells, it's Ctrl, not Shift!!!
cheers
