Responsive website

Post by Keith Hughes »

Hi I've been using WYSIWYG 15 for a while, and in fact many versions prior to that. But I'm having a problem with Carousel in responsive mode, I have a page break set to 320 for mobile phones, when I view my site on my laptop browser reduced to 320 width every thin is fine published or in preview. However when I view the website on my mobile the carousel section is not centered and only part of the page shows!! I think you would have to view the site via a mobile and not on a tablet or desktop. my website is www.englishlessond.tierpensionbiberach.de Can anyone help!!

There is a scrollbar at the bottom of the page.
This indicates that there are objects outside the viewport or the page alignment is not set to 'do not center' when using layout grids.

Nothing is outside the viewport and I've set the page alignment 'do not center'

I have another site with the same problems caused by the carousel!! What settings should I use? I have the carousel set to 'full width and floating' I have to use those settings as I also have layout grids on the page too. I can't put the carousel into a layout grid so I have no other way of using the carousel!!

Can you provide a copy of your project file so we can see all of your settings?

First; Your default view is 955px in page properties change this to 1024.
Delete the breakpoint 1024.
Set the carousel in options to responsive carousel.
Use Chrome to inspect the mobile view when something is wrong with your settings it will show.
Inspect this with no changes and after you make the changes,

If you wish to share your project then you can upload to your own host and provide a url and provide a url to download. Or upload to the likes of Mediafire and again provide the url.

I think I've found the problem, my cookie policy was to the side of the 320 page, I've moved it to below and things look OK now. Is there a way of making the carousel a fixed width when full width and floating?

If I put an image as a background to the carousel when displayed it is full width of the screen, I want to restrict it to 1024 and not full width?

You cannot use layers inside a carousel. A carousel itself is a layer.

None, layers should not be part or nested in a Carousel due to it being a Layer (multi layer) in its own right and should be a child (direct) of the page itself or layout grid (flexible).

I'm still having problems with responsive carousel in a break point, I think it is partly to do with the cookie policy, where is the best place to place a cookie policy? I place it at the bottom of my page at the moment. I also find items to close to the edge of a carousel appears to try and show in the previous slide!

cookie policy should not be part of a layer or carousel, it must be placed on an empty part of the page.

If you need assistance with your layout then please share a demo project so I can see what you have done.

Yes the problem I have is when I view the page on a mobile phone the carousel is not functioning properly, the cookie policy moves from the right to the center and things improve. Sometimes I can see something from the next slide trying to appear in the screen?

I cannot give support on cookie policy. This is a third party script. The extension is provided "AS IS".

But, I do not see any issues with the carousel.
Can you please be more specific about this? What do I need to do to see the problem?

In all mobile phone browsers the carousel does not load properly, google chrome is the best but when slide 3 loads slide 4 appears on the left hand side for a few seconds!! In other browsers the carousel only loads properly once you start to scroll down the page then it's fine but still the issues with slide 3 and 4 Regards Keith

I have tested the page on my iPhone and it seems to work correct.
Did you try it on other devices?
Does it work when you remove all the custom code you have added?

Hi again thank you for all your assistance it has been very helpful. Another question for you is I use a card in my carousel but it keeps changing it's height I resize it but then when I go back to the slide it has again enlarged, I've tried adjusting the padding to no avail!

The height of a card it determined by it's content.
If you want to make the card larger then you can add padding to the last item.

I'm really sorry to keep pestering you but I get very frustrated with some things in WYSIWYG web builder. I have a layout grid with two panels but no matter what I do I can't get the to center the content. every time I set the layout grid to center it does not work, I even try setting each panel to center again to no avail, I even try setting the padding to the item in the layout grid still it comes set to the left!!! I'm using a Jason Slider and that is what I'm having trouble with, I just can't get it to center. www.paperbriquettepress.com

Note that there is no support on (free) extensions, because most extensions are just wrappers for third party script, so they are provided "AS IS".
