*SOLVED* Not understanding H2's, Styles, texts on a page

Post by etcbbu »

Hi all,

I've got a file-download for you, here, to see my .WBS project-file. Yes, I have deleted-out my entire project except for the one page that is where my question is, which, in the project, is called

client-testimonial-cole-ac

[as in, https://www.ktravisj.com/client-testimonial-cole-ac.php]

If a Moderator/support/Pablo/admin or whoever could please let me know when you have successfully downloaded this .zip file with my project, I'd like to take-down this link to it; but here it is:

EDIT: Link removed /EDIT:

Here is my issue:

I have several headings on this page in-between the body-paragraphs, and this is the list of headings on this page that I would like categorized and presented to users as "h2 Headings", here are the h2 Headings on this page that I want

- (please state your Name and your Business)

- (in thinking about a Web-Presence for a business or organization—a Website, Social Media, things of that nature—why did you decide to bring in someone like Travis J Consulting?)

- (compared to what you thought about your Web-Presence *before*, after now having worked with Travis J Consulting for a few years, *what has changed* in how you think about your Web-Presence?)

- (another of Travis J Consulting's clients has stated the following: "We enjoyed working with Travis J Consulting on our Website for our business. After going through all of the headaches from other website companies we tried that were very unhelpful and did not live up to their word, we finally found Travis J Consulting, and it was truly a blessing." He was very helpful, and full of great ideas that led us to have a very well-established Website for our customers and potential customers, so they could see exactly what we offer, and are capable of doing. Have you found that to be true, in working with Travis J Consulting?)

- (at the time of this interview, we are in a time and place where Covid-19 has hit the entire world in an unprecedented way. What thoughts—if any—do you have about having Travis J Consulting as your partner on your Web-Presence, through this time?)

But when you look at the public-page as it sits right now:

https://www.ktravisj.com/client-testimonial-cole-ac.php

It looks to me like the only h2 Heading that is behaving what I want *ALL* of them to do is that first one, called " (please state your Name and you Business) " . The rest of these "h2 Headings" on this page, seem to default to what I want as the Body-Text, which is Josefin Sans ; the rest of them seem to left-align; the rest of them seem to re-size. It's all wrong, and I have no idea *WHY*, as I have gone through the steps of going into "Styles >> h2 Headings" , defined how I want the to behave *for each of the Breakpoints*, and everything. So, I am at a loss.

Essentially it boils down to this--I need all of the h2 Headings on this page (the ones I listed in bullet point fashion, above) to all behave like that first one that says, " please state your Name and your Business " .

Other information for you to know when you look at this page:

1) I have 5 Breakpoints on this entire website, and on this specific page: 1920, 1366, 1024, 768, 320 ; and please double-check me with my project-file, but I thought I detailed what I want h2 Heading to be, on each breakpoint in that "Styles" option

2) The name of the font I want to use as the H2 Headings is: Josefin Sans Light

3) I would also like all of these h2 Headings to be Centered on the page

4) I would like the font-size to be 16

So, I have no idea--is it the idea that trying to define "Josefin Sans LIGHT" is the problem? Is it that you cannot use a VARIANT of a certain font (that is, the "Light") as an h2 Heading style? I just have no idea.

I'm not at my computer where I can download your file but I can clearly see that the text you want (that is correct) is using a class="h2"

Code: Select all

<div class="h2" id="wb_travisjconsultingclienttestimonialfortravisjconsultingfromcoleacText16">
<span style="color:#FFFFFF;">(please state your Name and your Business)</span></div>
to style it whereas the others are using <h2>

Code: Select all

<div id="wb_travisjconsultingclienttestimonialfortravisjconsultingfromcoleacText29">
<h2>
(in thinking about a Web-Presence for a business or organization—a Website, Social Media, things of that nature—why did you decide to bring in someone like Travis J Consulting?)
</h2>
</div>
So they are not being styled the same way. Hopefully someone else can chime in here.

If you are using styles in the style manager, make sure you are highlighting the text to add the style to, right click it and choose it from the styles option. Are you buy chance using a dedicated heading object?

Heading styles should be applied to the text characters, not to the text's container.

STEP 1
Select (highlight) the text

STEP 2
Select the style you want to apply.

@crispy68 and @Pablo

I have now

- highlighted every piece of text on the page-in-question that I want to be h2
- right-clicked on the highlighted text (which is the literal text inside of the text-box objects) , and clicked "Style >> Heading 2 <h2> "
- I repeated this process on *every object in every breakpoint*

I have now re-published my entire site. Can someone else possibly completely clear out your cache, File >> Exit completely out of your browser, load my newest page:

https://www.ktravisj.com/client-testimonial-cole-ac.php

Doesn't look like to me the desired result has been achieved.

Let me know if it's seeming to look right to you?

- I repeated this process on *every object in every breakpoint*
Style are the same for all breakpoints so you do not need to repeat this for every breakpoint.

Note: 'Enable responsive fonts' should be OFF if you want to use styles because for responsive text, the style is the same for he whole text box.

@Pablo, thanks for the tip.

I have now edited every text-box in question and switched that to "OFF", as you said.

*bump* Just seeing if anyone can have a look and let me know; do I need to upload my project-file again..? Still wondering if it's this whole "Variance" thing that's stopping me from having "Josefin Sans Light" as my font-of-choice working correctly as h2 headings.

Where exactly on the page do I need to look?
And what is it suppose to look like?

Note that it's very difficult to make any sense of the HTML if there is so much content.
If you have a problem with one specific element then please remove everything else form the page, so it's immediately clear where to look. That way it will be much easier to help you.

Ok, thank y'all again for even taking a look.

https://www.ktravisj.com/proj.zip

It's up again, now. I removed the only "Extension" that was on the

client-testimonial-cole-ac.php

page.

Could y'all please let me know when you

- successfully download it
- successfully open it

even before you may have some news on advice you may have, just so I can delete it off my Web-Space ASAP.

Thank y'all, again, for even agreeing to take a look.

Hey Travis,

Just so I'm clear, the regular text is supposed to be Josefin Sans normal text and the text in the parenthesis is supposed to be heading H2 with Josefin Sans Light text correct?

Re: Not understanding H2's, Styles, texts on a page

Ok, here is what I found out.

1. on the text "please state your Name and your Business", you have a class added to this. Select the text and under properties on the right change the class to blank removing the .h2 class you assigned it. Then highlight the text and select the style to be H2 like you did with the other text.

2. The issue I initially had is that when I looked at the Google fonts under Tools, I had some of the Josefin Sans fonts installed. So I installed of them. However, for whatever reasons Josefin Sans Light was not one of my font options. When I viewed the fonts on my Windows, it only showed 5 of the fonts installed thru WB. So I closed WB, reopened it, went to Google fonts, removed all of the Josefin Sans fonts and hit ok. I then went back in and only loaded the Regular and Light and then I was able to actually select Josefin Sans Light for the text. Check to make sure you do have Josefin Sans Light as a font showing installed.

3. Lastly, the main thing I think the problem is this...go to style manager, click on Heading2 remove the 1920 breakpoint as this is the same as your default and then for each breakpoint change 'Bold' from False to blank.

@crispy68

I'll try some of those things, ASAP, and give it a whirl. I've *kind of* tried them, already, (without double-checking or running a fine-toothed comb through it) , but here's one *weird* thig I am seeing with regards to your 2. point, above. In my "Google Font" dialogue box, I am having two different entries for "Josefin Sans". Here's a bit of a detailed screenshot:

https://www.ktravisj.com/scrn.png

I wonder if *that* could be throwing off anything..?

EDIT: I realize I really crappily circled that second "Josefin Sans" entry and it looks like I am circling the "Jost" font underneath it; but assure you, I meant to put it around that second "Josefin Sans" entry.

1. I would close out of WB, restart WB, go in and remove both fonts, hit ok, close out. Restart WB again and go back into google fonts and re-add the font.

2. I'm pretty sure your problem is associated to #3 in my previous post also.

@crispy68

You know what--it's lookin like I may have this thing fixed--thanks to you and @Pablo! Y'all rock, thank you. I've still got to do that little magic you mentioned where I'll delete both Josefin Sans entries, close out, re-install once, and all that jazz; but for the time-being, one or multiple of those solutions you gave me seemed to have do the trick. These headings finally look great, and so now my next task is just on me, to get my various spacings between texts and headings looking good across all my Breakpoints.

Thanks so much! :D :D :D WB IS THE BEST! :D :D :D
