Problems upgrading 64 bit 16.0.0 to 16.1.0

Post by treasure »

Hi

Have been using version 16.0.0 with no problems, this morning downloaded 16.1.0 and run and all I get is a quick flash of the intro screen and a flash of the next screen and then nothing. I have tried a restart but still the same.
Rather than start searching for a solution just wanted to see if this is a common problem. Any ideas on what has happened or how to proceed.

Thanks

There are no known issues with the latest update and it seems to works correct for all other users so it's unlikely an issue that was introduced in 16.1, otherwise more users would have the same problem.
This is most likely a firewall related issue.

This Firewall is disabled. The extension file is renamed as suggested but the program is still not working.

Do you suggest I delete the full program and reinstall it from a new download or have you another suggestion?

Are there any errors in the log of your firewall or virus scanner?
Or maybe in the Windows event log?

Did you make any other changes to your computer other than installing the update?

Or else try to rename the entire folder:
Documents\ WYSIWYG Web Builder\
to
Documents\ WYSIWYG Web Builder Backup\

No errors. Checked WIN 10 all up to date.

I have deleted the original folder WYSIWYG Web Builder 16 under Program File (X86) and tried a brand new download. (I still have version 15 installed.)

Although I selected WYSIWYG Web Builder 16.1.0 (64-bit version) from the download page it has created a folder and files in Program Files rather than Program Files (X86). All the files seem to be there but it is not working. No short cut was added to the desktop either.

Realise I was talking rubbish about locations of files - sorry, frustration setting in and old age.
But it still is not working.

Any help appreciated.

Maybe you previously had installed the 32bit version?

That sounds like you don't have permission to put it wherever it is trying to go. Do you have any s/w that might block access to any areas? Are you installing it as an admin? Have you changed any default locations?

Personally, I take all the defaults when installing WWB and have never had any issues since I started using it at V14.

'Access is denied' means that something is blocking access to the folder.
This may be a firewall, virus scanner or Windows ransomware protection.

What antivirus software do you use? In the past I have had a similar problem and had to uninstall Bullguard antivirus to install the software and then install the antivirus software after it was installed successfully.

Thanks for the comments.
I have uninstalled ant-virus (Avast) and switched off the firewall.
I have uninstalled WYSIWYG16 from the PC and downloaded a new version from web.
I have reloaded the program which goes through the install routine and asks if I want a desktop icon, which I select. It appears to install and is listed in programs but there is no desktop item and when selecting the program I just get a short flash of the start-up screen and then nothing.
Looking at the Windows Event Log it shows an error as follows:-

Do you also rename the 'documents' folder before running the setup?

Do you have another computer you can try it on so we can be sure this is not an issue of your computer only?

Sorry, Pablo, I don't understand your comment - "rename the 'documents' folder before running the setup? " Can you explain please what you mean. I haven't renamed any documents folder.

I have a laptop and will load the program and let you know how I get on.

Many thanks.

I did mentioned this in a previous reply:
Or else try to rename the entire folder:
Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder\
to
Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder Backup\
