Layout Grid - Rollover Text

Post by piotrh » Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:33 am

Hello.
I have just two simple questions:
Will the Rollover Text object be avalible as 'flexible' object to use in Layout Grid?
And following, will 'layers' be avalible to?
Its a really great feature - really worth to develop it further.
Thank you for doing a great job!
greetings
Piotr

No, that will not be possible. The Rollover Text object uses layered elements, this is not possible in a flexible layout.
And following, will 'layers' be avalible to?
A layer is a container for fixed objects, layers are therefor not flexible and cannot be used inside a layout grid.
However you can make the layer itself floating to use it in combination with layout grids.

Is there a way at achieve same effect as in this page:
http://andreewallin.com/
I have problem with floating layers - if i choose image to fit in it (cover in options). Layer hight does not change itself (is not responsive, so when i resize browser window i get huge gaps between images. Also i cant find a way for a simple image object to shrink down fluently while resizing browser window.
Am I missing something?

You may be able to do this with a rollover layer (position children set to 'floating').
For example:
http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/suppor ... rtist.html

Only images can change their height based on the available width. This is not possible with other objects (like layers) because they do not have an aspect ratio.
Also i cant find a way for a simple image object to shrink down fluently while resizing browser window.
Add the image to a layout gird and make set full width to 'true'.

Hi Pablo
As mentioned by you via Mail, I tried to solve the rollover image effect and it worked perfectly with rollover layer. Thanks for that!

I need this object to be responsible like an image in a layout grid. I've read this forum entry and unfortunately there seems to be no way (yet, according to you) to make the rollover layer responsible.

Could you please implement a way in a future release, with which an object (rollover layer, image, or other) can be made responsible by putting it in a layout grid with the possibilities of the rollover layer. Please see the example posted by piotrh (http://andreewallin.com/).

I'm sure this is key for other web designer and a big help for all other users too, as well as a big selling argument for your great product.

Cheers

Unfortunately this will not be possible.
To use a rollover layer in a layout grid is needs to support floating layout otherwise it will not be 'flexible'.
When the layout is floating you can no longer stack objects on top of each other, like in absolute mode.

Hi Pablo

When it's possible to make it with pure CSS, then why does the Web Builder have no possibility (except HTML Modules and Self Programming) to achieve such a Tile/Card behaviour?

See also http://css-workshop.com/hover-box-text- ... -and-more/

Can you implement such a function/object/image property in a future release please.

Cheers

This example does not layered objects!
If you only want to overlay text then use the Rollover text object instead.

I need to make myself a bit clearer.

The Goal I'd like to achieve in initial state is:
- A tile or card with an specified background (e.g. Background Color or Image)
- Optional Text or other Image at a specified position

Then in hover state it should do the following:
- The tile optionally shows a different background (e.g. Color Alpha, or other Image)
- Optional Text or other Image at a specified position

The Tile has to be responsive, free of break points (which may be specified if needed).

I don't mind layers at all, any working solution is more than welcome. If it's not possible to make responsible (resizeable), it should at least be possible to put in a flexbox or layout grid. The items therein also should be positioned 'centered'.

Cheers

I knew you would bring this up, hehe.

YES, i tried with rollover text object too, but it has its flaws...

My summary for the rollover objects:
Rollover Text
+ It can be placed within a Layout Grid and a Flex Container.
- The rollover text object cannot contain text in non-hover state.
- Text cannot be positioned in the vertical center of the object.
- Object is not responsive regarding it's size (just saying).

Rollover Image
+ Text can be placed in non-hover state
+ Text can be placed anywhere
- The rollover Image cannot be placed inside a Layout Grid or a Flex Container (!!!)
- Object is not responsive regarding it's size (just saying).

Btw, i really appreciate your fast responses!

Cheers
