how to make Unite gallery responsive?

Post by ps76 » Wed Oct 24, 2018 7:18 pm

My site is www.granvista.dk/test. The initial page works fine responsive. I have set 320, 1024 and 1280 px as breakpoints. However, when going to one the picture galleries - I have used the "Unite extension" - something goes wrong, and the page gets too wide for smaller screens, like Ipads or Iphones.
I am using the http://responsivedesignchecker.com to check this.
It looks like it does not break when going to smaller screens.
What do I need to do to fix this?

The extension is responsive by design.
But there seems to be something wrong with your breakpoints.

"something"...? Like what? Should I put them other places than mentioned - or is there something else missing?

I cannot see what you have done based on the HTML code only.
To be able to help you, I need your project file.

okay, so I have uploaded the test file: www.granvista.dk/test.
I have designed the pages on a large 32" screen.

I have here removed most pages, so only the index page and one of the picture pages is left ("Stranden").

I have two problems here:
1. The index page: Already when moving down to my 13" laptop, one have to scroll horisontally to see all the page. And the CSS menu on top ("Start, Beskrivelse, Sikkerhed, Billeder, Send mail") is way out to the right.. The aize of the buttons are okay in size on the laptop 13", but on a tablet or even more a phone size screen the buttons become way to big. And also down here the page does not fit to the screens, but are too wide.

2. Press the photolink "Stranden" and You will see, even on the 13" screen, that the page does not fit, but is too wide. And the text on top on the page disappears and other texts are overlapped by the photos.

I have set breakpoints at 320, 768, 1024, 1280 px.

Hope You are able to guide me to fix these problems. You want me to send the project file separately also? If so, where to?

Thanks for Your help
Preben

PS - I know some of the photos are too large. Will have them resized eventually, but that is a minor problem, as I know how to do that.

I'm sorry, but I need the project file, not the published website.
It would take me hours (or days) to figure out what you have done based on the HTML code only.

Before sharing the project please read:

yes, that is why I asked You where to send the project file. Because it does not say on the link with the instructions...
And cannot attach here, I think.

Anyway, have sent it now to Your info mail.

Thanks for sending the project.

I have found the following issues:
- the width default view is 3336 pixels! It suggest to use a more common size like 1280
- you have used layout grid but there is also fixed content, like the CSS menu that does not see to be part of anything.
- layer1 has no content, maybe you intended to add the CSs menu to the layer. In that case make the layer bigger so the menu can fit inside it.
- it is not common to have a 1280 breakpoint. I suggests to remove it and make the default view 1280 pixels.
- the heading on the 'comingsoon' layer does not have an ID. Maybe you have accidentally cleared this value?
- the heading is too wide for the layer in the 320 breakpoint.

There may be other issues, but first you will have to fix these ones.

Thanks. Not sure if I have the knowledge to find and fix those items - but will surely try.
I simply picked a template - "comingsoon" - from Your site and replaced most with my own stuff, but perhaps that template was not ideal for what I am trying to create.

The template was correct. However you have changed too many things.

I suggest to do one thing at a time, then if it does not work correct ask for help before you continue to the next step.

Ok, so I uploaded the project file, but the pictures did not follow obviously. Tried to send to myself, and can see same thing happened. Tried also via another mail, same problem.
How can I send the project file to You WITH the pictures, pls?

In the file menu you can save the project as zip file, this will contain all images.

I dont see that option. There are four options: Save as WYSIWYG web builder project, WYSIWYG web builder template, HTML dokument and Quick and easy web builder 5.x project....
Note that I am on version 12. Perhaps Zip came later versions?

Sorry, zip support was added in version 14.
In that case you will need to zip the project folder yourself.

Note that for me it also takes a lot of time to figure out what you have done and where the errors are.
You will have to take it one step a time otherwise I have to spend whole day looking for mistakes in your project .
