SSH port on hosting server will be changed

Post by gasconman »

I've received this notification from UK2.net. Do I need to do anything regarding wysiwygwebbuilder ?

"The SSH port used to access your shared hosting server will be changed from 22 (default port) to 2233 (alternate port) from the 1st December, 2020. This change will only affect you if you connect to your server(s) over SSH or SFTP protocols; if you only use regular FTP, no changes on your side are needed.

We have chosen to remove access to server(s) over the default SSH port to provide improved security for our clients, especially from Brute Force Attacks. In addition, we encourage all our clients to use secure complex passwords if using SSH.

The new alternate port is already active and available for use, so you are able to re-configure your SFTP/SSH software to use port 2233 for SSH at your convenience. The default SSH port, 22, will be closed on 1st December, 2020.

Please take note:
• For Filezilla FTP manager or similar you will need to set the "Port" field value to 2233.
• For Putty, alter the SSH port from 22 to 2233."

It looks like your host is going to be switching to SFTP rather than FTP. Question what version of the software are you using?. In WWB 15 / 16 support has been added so you can use SFTP and set the port as required. If you are still using a earlier version such as 11, 12 or 14 you can use the following extension (paid)

You can change the port number in the publish settings.

I'm using the latest version of WB (16.0.4)

before posting, I looked under Tools > Options > Publish but I didn't see any mention of SFTP or Ports there

EDIT
OK, sorry, I see it now in Edit Publish Location

What is the exact error message?
Are you sure your (secure) FTP settings are correct?
