Website changes won't upload

Post by Curt »

Today my website changes won't upload. When I try to publish a page, the WYSIWYG goes through the usual routine and finally says, "Successfully published! END OF PUBLISH Done. But when I check my website, nothing has changed. I've tried this for multiple pages, and each time failure.

I did upload the latest WYSIWYG on Saturday. There was no problem uploading changes each day since then except today. What could be going wrong?

Are you sure you uploaded to the correct folder? Have you tried doing a hard refresh to clear your cache (control + F5)?

Yes & Yes. Thanks for responding. Meanwhile, I've also alerted my webhost Jumpline, and they will check the server, then send me an email.

Maybe you have accidentally changed your FTP configuration?
Or maybe there are errors in the log, due to a problem?

The FTP configuration appears correct. When I click Test, the report is a successful connection to the server with all information reported to be correct.

I downloaded the latest version of WYSIWYG on Saturday, and did so again just now. Uploading my website was successful every day until today.

WYSIWYG reports the uploads are successful, but no changes are seen when I check my website.

Where to I find errors? In what log? What could be a problem?

If you did not change anything yourself then this is most likely a server related issue.

You can set the log level in the publish settings.

There do not appear to be any error reports in the log. I would attach an image of the log, but it apparently has to be done through a URL, and obviously I am currently unable to upload it.

You can also use the likes of the following https://imgbb.com/ to upload your image (screenshot) to and provide the generated url. Or simply just copy and paste the error log text to the forum.

Thanks. Below is a pasting of the full log. It's a much longer version than what initially appeared after the attempted upload. I got it by clicking "Copy publish log to Clipboard".

I don't know anything about who your web host is, and how much memory is allocated for your use, but I do see several entries in your log, such as the following:

Thanks. That log was from a test upload of one thinly populated webpage. Usually I upload much more with no problems.

I've been in contact a couple of times today with my webhost Jumpline. The latest is that they are still working on it and will get back to me.

I suspect Pablo is right that the problem is with the webhost server.

This also happened to me sometime ago the problem was that I was running tests for my website and uploaded and deleted my directory too many times. So therefor there comes a restriction for a day or time and then it gets back to normal again. Don't worry it will be fine after some server management and time.

My website is uploading today despite not doing so yesterday.

This morning I received an email from my webhost Jumpline, which is pasted down below.

Pablo, is there a way for me to get WYSIWYG to overwrite same-named files, ideally by default? If not, could you please amend the program to allow this? I'd rather not attempt to alter your program myself.

Jumpline email to me:

Hello Curt,

I have made sure there is enough space on the server and your account. Upon checking the ftp logs, I could see that 'File exists' error. Please find the snippet below. Further checking, I found that the wysiwyg web builder you are using does not overwrite existing files/folder dby default, hence you are facing the issue.

------
Nov 19 01:07:35 cpanel09 pure-ftpd: (curtrenz@162.204.56.204) [ERROR] Can't create directory: File exists
------

You can refer this article and try change settings for wysiwyg web builder inorder to overwrite files.
---
https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum ... hp?t=82745
---

If the issue persists, I would suggest
1) publish the website in local folder and
2) then use another FTP client like Filezilla inorder to upload the locally published folder to the server.

We value your relationship with us and are glad to assist you with your queries.
If you have any questions or need any assistance from our end, feel free to let us know. Have an awesome day!

Thank you,
Rajil

The information from your host is not correct.
WYSIWYG Web Builder does overwrite files with same name. You do not need to configure anything for this.

Are you sure your directory has the proper permissions 775 or 777?
Check it and also try to do one test from my personal view which I used to do when I faced this kind of smiler problem and that is try to upload another project different .wbs project or a template into your webhost directory. In my case I had a problem with my website where because of a small script it stopped me to from uploading the whole site on the other hand I could upload other websites project files properly.

So try to check everything in the site including the scrips and corrupt codes.
