Login page not secure

Post by NarellanProbus »

I have found a few pages in the login section of my club website open to the public. The only thing I could see that maybe causing the issue was the meta tag page with information. Could this be the problem? Im unable to upload photos to explain this, as I had hoped. Thanks, Kijanne

Uploading images to the forum has been disabled. But you can yourself upload any or all images to your own site and provide urls to view. Or alternatively use the following https://imgbb.com/ and provide the urls generated

Thank you so much for helping me.
I have the login section on the home page. That takes you to the Resources Page. The Newsletter section is open to the public when it should have been locked down so Im wondering if the meta tags (I have deleted them now) overrules the login passwords and makes it public. That section seems to be the only page listed on the google search for Narellan Probus that should have been locked, however, I had arrows linking the other pages so that enabled people to access the other pages once they got into the newsletter page.
If it would help then I could give you a password to get into the site but I think you could do it via the newsletter page because I dont think I can remove it off the search engine now. www.narellanprobus.org.au
I taught myself how to do the website 13 years ago, firstly with the Serif progams WebPlus then this one. I am certainly no expert.
Looking forward to hearing for you.

Meta tags do not affect the login functionality

But... what exactly did you do?
How did you lock the page?
Where on your website do I need to go to see the problem?
Can you please be more specific?

The Newsletter page shows on google when it is supposed to be in the login section of the website. The other pages within the login, do not show.
I tried to add a lock to the newsletter page as an extra precaution but that wasnt solving the problem or I wasnt doing it correctly.
I have just ticked "Dont synchronise this page in navigation objects" , hoping that will make a difference.
If there is a mistake I have made then I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you from Sue at Narellan Probus

First note that it may take a few days or weeks before Google updates it's search index. So, your changes will not be visible in Google immediately.

But it does not look like the page is protected. Did you republish it?
Also, there is a still an HTML version of the same page on the server.

I didnt realise that Google may take that long to update search index.

I have the login section with individual passwords for each member, so I thought that would be enough without needing each page having a lock on it as well.

I have republished it without the individual lock on each page.

I dont think there is an HTML version of the same page on the server. It is php with the document type listed as HTML.

I do hope this is what is needed.
Thanks again Pablo.

Here is the HTML version:

Here is the PHP version of the same page:
https://narellanprobus.org.au/newslette ... o_2020.php

All pages that you want to hide, must have a 'protected page' object.

Pablo, does Single Page Protect require php? If so, must then the .html version of the same page not be removed because the browser will load that first?
