simple plan not working

Post by queenidog »

I haven't worked on my webpages for well over a year and just recently upgraded from Wysiwyg 15 to 16.
I have one page where I list 4 items in a bulleted list as shown in screenprint
The Preview is correct in spacing, but the font is smaller.
The published page is shown here: http://www.raiderracing.com/ShowCar/magazines.html

I've tried a number of things to get it proper but cannot. At one time I had a table with these entries, which seemed to work, but I removed it for something simpler, like this bulleted list.

I could not get access to your project file. Can you please share it in a public location?
Note that I do not need your entire project, just a demo project of what you trying to do.

For each text block in the bulleted list, did you set the font size for each?

New info: Only CHROME, my default browser is showing the page all skewed.

Opera and Edge show it correctly, with links that work no problem. Strange since Opera, and I think Edge now, use the Chromium engine for their browswers.

I deleted a number of Chrome extensions and turned off a few others. I shut down the McAffee firewall.

It appears to be a Chrome or Chrome with WSYIWYG problem.

Pablo, the two links I put in my first post should give you the info you require. One is how it is supposed to look, other is how it actually looks, but as I said in another reply, it only looks screwy in CHROME (which unfortunately is my default browser, and probably default for millions of people).

Pablo,

I've been working on this thing, trying different things, so some stuff has changed. However, I still have a problem where Google Chrome does NOT display what I make in WYSIWYG. It works OKAY in Edge and Opera.

This is what I'm expecting:Image

This is what I get (in Chrome only): http://www.raiderracing.com/ShowCar/pictures87.html

I don't see my image when I do a preview. I had enclosed it in img tags. Here it is alone, on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DmdfWE ... sp=sharing

I think the problem is related to the invalid filenames. File names should not have spaces.

I don't have space in any of my filenames. The one I show you in previous posts is called pictures87. I don't use weird characters and no filename starts with numbers. I looked through all of them and all comply with the rules.

Why does it work with Opera and Edge, but not Google Chrome?

I have another page where the two elements in a navigation bar OVERLAP in Chrome, but are okay in Edge or Opera.

I wish I could just copy and paste screenprints instead of putting on the Cloud...lots of steps.

I do see several images with invalid file names.
For example:
car at show ws.jpg
car at sunridge mall.jpg
crowd_around_car.jpg
Also, I recommend to use lowercase file names.

All browsers work different. Some browsers do not like filenames with spaces.

Apart from spaces also ensure no images start with any numbers use lowercase and finally the file extension should really be .jpg and not .JPG

Everyone: thanks for your replies.

My website consisted of photos taken with one of the very first digital cameras, 30 years ago, and auto numbering was a little weird. My own numbering system, and old versions of windows (where 8.3 style naming was convention) created a big mess.

I found names with () (brackets) , + signs, spaces, numbers at front, and jpeg/jpg extensions. Some had JPG in capitals.

I found a program online called Easy File Renamer that allowed me to make all these corrections. When I let the program list all the files in my "NEWWEB" folder, it found 6800 occurrences, not of bad files, just files. I applied the pattern to fix (eg replace space with underscore), and in 2 seconds, all the misnamed files were fixed! Wow! WYSIWYG should have this program as a add-in, or provide a link to it. Very inexpensive, considering what it can do.

After renaming, fixing photo names in WYSIWYG, re-publishing AND (not to be forgotten), emptying the cache, I got a good, proper page using Chrome.
