page very small on mobile device

Post by larryb »

After many hours of research and experimenting I have finally been able to design and publish a webpage that I am fairly happy with....for the most part anyway. It appears the same in Web Builder as it does online. The issue I have recently discovered, however, is that it does NOT appear as it should on my mobile device (iPhone 11 Pro max) . It is VERY small and nearly impossible to read.

I do not really understand most of the terminology used when describing web page design, but through trying to read various posts (and trying to comprehend what I am reading) I think I have narrowed the issue down to break points....? I tried adding from 1 break point to as many as up to as many as 5 break points. Each time I insert a break point the page does publish large enough to be legible. Unfortunately it is also larger than the iPhone screen....PLUS it is not centered. It does not seem to matter how many break points I add, I get the exact same results.

Then again, perhaps break points is not the solution.

It's probably an easy fix but I really don't know where to look for the answer. Can anybody help me solve this please?

To be able to help you, I need a DEMO project so I can see all your settings.

Note: I do not need the complete project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

Please see this FAQ for further details:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=82134

Note that normally you need one or two breakpoints for absolute/fixed layout.

Pablo,
I appreciate your time and efforts.
Hopefully I have created the demo that you need. If not let me know and I will try again.

It displays properly on a PC and/or iPad but is VERY small on an iPhone as is.

Thanks for the project.
However, it does not look like you have optimized the page for mobile devices, so the mobile browser will display the desktop version of the page.

To make the page mobile friendly you can add one or more breakpoints.

Pablo,
I have uploaded what I believe to be the corrected "demo".

https://lightbeemzphoto.com/test_2

I did watch the video you suggested and I see that when he clicks on the page breaks within the builder program the contents of the page automatically adjusts to each particular width selected. Mine does not do that. The page break size appears as "highlighted" but the contents of the page remains stationary and only visible in the shadow left from changing visual width (does that make sense?). The contents of the page does not automatically adjust to appear in the page break size.

Perhaps relevant?....the web builder program that I recently downloaded (version 17.1) will occasionally freeze/stop responding when I attempt to open a project by clicking *file - open*. Should i download a new copy and reinstall?

You will need to rearrange the objects so they fit within the specific page width. For fixed layout the software cannot do this automatically because there is no 'structure' in your layout. You will need to do this manually.
Please read this tutorial:
https://wysiwygwebbuilder.com/rwd_basics.html

Note: if you use layout grid (flexible layout) then the layout will automatically adjust itself on smaller screesn.

I think this is unrelated. This sounds more like a Windows related issue. Maybe your firewall blocks the application?
