Avatar upload error

Post by jerryco »

Could not upload avatar to ./images/avatars/upload/0a3f56e74383639dea14ec679ae7bec4_25869.jpg.

I tried a png and a jpg. Both 80x80 pixels and 17,2 kb and 2,8 kb respectfully.

A few years ago, someone managed to upload a virus via this feature. This caused 'panic' at the web host and they decided to block the account (= website offline) until the virus was removed.
Since then I have disabled this option to make suie this does not happen again.

Seriously? A virus through an image uploader? That's deep!

You can embedd a virus inside an image.
Although this may not cause any harm in modern browsers, it will still trigger the virusscanner.
