Managing site for client in a different continent.

Hi guys, hope you had a fabulous and calm Christmas. My question is because of a client in Australia wants their website to be hosted on a local server in Australia. I live and work in Sweden now, but was working in Ecuador for the last 10 years. When moving to Ecuador I brought some customers from Sweden to a new host I found in the US. This worked very well even for the Swedish market. No one ever complained about the speed or functionality.
Now when in Sweden I have clients from Sweden, Ecuador, US and Germany, and all working ok. So the question is if someone has any experience of these distances contra speed and security? Cause I really want to have this client on my regular panel. My provider says it shouldn't matter and I can connect a new function called "CloudFlare" Does anyone have experience with this technique?
Maybe some of our Australian forum members can give advice for a good and reliable hosting company in Australia?
Muchas Gracias

I remembered a discussion on this or similar from former member ColinM looking to move his host provider asking for recommendations. Take a look for now and hopefully some of the other Australian members will recommend hosting to you.

I also remember reading the use of .au domains not sure if it was here in the forum or not but to be able to use you need to be in Australia ie be a citizen etc hence why the client is asking it to be in Australia so using on your host may not be possible Bluesman.
See the following

Tnx Bacon... will take a look at that. Regarding the domain we will use the registrar in Australia but point the nameservers. Do that for other countries and works well.

Then you will not be hosting in Australia if I understand you correct?

I would do some homework first before doing anything just incase you run into issues. From what I understand the client needs to be in Australia (lives) and they will need to register the domain in there name not you. Not sure if you can then host it outside of Australia I would wait to see if one of the AU members reads this and can give you better advice to what can and cannot be done. It may be the case that a .au must be hosted in Australia for legal reasons. I would have gave Colin a call for you but he has moved and I don't have his new telephone number as he would have pointed me in the right direction.

Good point. Yes the Client is living in Australia and they have registered the domain with a local registrar, but want to change because of bad support. Probably I will go for a full provide in AU. Will wait some days and do some "homework"

Hopefully bburgess or GrahamW will read this and offer advice on what's best for the client and you.

Yes I will wait for some days, but the one they advised in the other thread "Crazy Domains" seems quite ok but I seen some other to. Should be nice to have a screenshot from their control panel, the one the client have now is blooted with commercial and hidden costs. Must be a simple tool with straight and logical panel as the genuine C-panel.

This may help...Note they do offer hosting in Europe which you may be able to use as it would be easier to contact giving the time difference with Australia and your current location. Perhaps fire of a email to them and ask can you host a .au outside of Australia in Europe.

Do you know why your client wants it hosted in Australia?

Do you know why? Does it have a legal reason for this?

Hi again jerryco. There is a legal reason to have the domain registered in Australia, but I can not find any restriction for having the site on a server outside Australia, but the client wants to have an easy connection in the same time zone
