Just upgraded to 17 won't load onto desktop

I just upgraded from 7 to 17. I got the serial # and it easily activated my trial version on my LAPTOP. Then I opened my old desktop, opened 7 and it said "unregistered 30 day evaluation copy" I entered my new activation code and it says "the info you have entered is invalid". Do you need a new activation code? Do I have to buy another edition of 17 so it will work on my desktop? I already turned windows firewall off and it doesn't help.

If you have a license for version 17 then it will also work on your desktop.
The license can be used on 3 computers for your own use. The license may not be shared with another user.

The activation code for 17 won't work on 7. You need to install 17 and then apply the code.
