Uploading Photos Live

Post by gsangiov »

Hi,

I want to create a simple web site for my nephews wedding where guests can upload from their cell phones pictures live during the reception.

Any suggestions on how to do this and whether it is possible.

Thank you ...

As a suggestion there is the following extension Online Photo Gallery - Version 1.2 that partially meets what your asking. It allows a user (Administrator) to upload images to an existing Gallery without the need to republish again as the images are getting uploaded directly to the server.
It is only a suggestion but if you require something different then it will require a bespoke (custom) solution.

I helped set up something similar for a family event last year. We used a mix of Google Photos and a shared QR code link, and it worked okay, but guests kept forgetting to upload. What helped more was using a basic site with a photo upload form tied to a cloud storage folder—there are a few no-code platforms that allow this. You might also want to assign someone to walk around and remind guests or help less tech-savvy folks upload their shots.

If you’re also thinking of turning the footage into a highlight video afterward, I’ve been using a simple video editor that makes that part pretty painless. Especially handy if you're not super experienced with editing tools.

The built-in Photo Gallery, Photo Grid and Photo Collage support loading files from a folder on the server.
You could use one of the file upload extensions to upload images to this folder.
