Box-Shadow stopped working after recent updates (bug?)

Post by nxr »

Hi Pablo,

After one of the recent updates (I am not sure which one exactly), the box-shadow effect on images has completely stopped working across all my websites.

I noticed that if I manually change the effect from box-shadow to drop-shadow, the shadow appears again. However, this is not a solution for me. I have many large websites built with WYSIWYG Web Builder, and changing this manually for hundreds of images across different projects would take me hours, if not days of tedious work.

Is this a known bug and is there a chance to have this fixed in the upcoming update so that old projects render properly again?

There are no known bugs otherwise it would have already been fixed.

For me, box shadow seems to work correct.
If you need help with this then please share DEMO project and describe the exact steps to reproduce the issue.

If I create a brand new project and insert a new Layout Grid with an image, the box-shadow works perfectly.

However, if I copy and paste a Layout Grid from an older project into this new project, the box-shadow on the exact same image completely stops working. It seems that legacy Layout Grids carry some old formatting or internal settings that conflict with the new CSS generator, causing the shadow to be clipped or ignored.

I am attaching a clean demo project file where you can see both grids (the new working one and the pasted old one) to reproduce the issue:

When I open your project, then I see two images. Both have box shadow.
However, the second one is lighter, so it's more difficult to see.
Is this not intentional?
Which color did you set?

Can you please describe step by step what I need to do to see the issue?
What the expected result is?

Note:
I doubt that this has anything to do with the layout grid.
The shadow is part of the image, not of the layout grid.

At this point, I don’t understand anything anymore:
The project I sent you had a black box-shadow on the top image, and it was supposed to have (but didn't) a blue box-shadow on the bottom image.
When I open this project now, I don't see a shadow on either image.

The situation is as follows: when creating a brand new project, the shadow is created correctly.
But after saving the project and opening it again from scratch – it disappears.
I have tried this multiple times with different image formats and different browsers for preview; once the saved project is reopened, all shadows disappear.

This happens on all of my websites and across all of my projects.

I was using the version from a few days ago (June 28th). I installed it on several computers, and the same bug occurred on all of them.
Installing the latest version from July 1st fixed the issue (at least at first glance).

I am attaching the version from June 28th, which clearly contains the bug I mentioned:

I am not able to thoroughly check all of my websites with every single WWB update, but for now – it looks like everything is okay.

Thank you!
