How to add image zoom to your site: Video tutorial

Post by Magic Toolbox »

This tutorial teaches you how to zoom into images in your WYSIWYG site.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5D39IO9WyA

It's a 4 minute YouTube video screencast, using the image zoom tool, Magic Zoom Plus.

Please tell us what you think!

Thanks,

Jake

Hey, I dont wish to bump this thread, but since you have posted, I wish to ask you again the query I had mailed to you on 27.02.2011
I sent this mail to you:
I am trying your demo version of Magic Thumb for WYSIWYG Webbuilder 7.2.
I am interested in buying this extension.
I have a query and will appreciate a quick response please.
In the settings I have YES for "multiple images". It is showing the multiple images, fine..but in vertical. How can I change it to show in horizontal and also how to control distance between two images?
-regards.
And this is what you replied:
Hi,
Unfortunately this is impossible. It requires core plugin files modifications.
Best regards,
Igor
So, I see there are limitations in your products. Do you expect everyone to have a 'VERTCAL' gallery only with no control in setting distance between images?

We'd love to be able to add the option of vertical/horizontal and spacing between images but we are limited by the core files.

We will investigate this a second time to see if there is a workaround to add these 2 options to the module.

Hello,
But why are you asking me to do that again? As mentioned, I had already sent a mail to you regarding the issue and you had replied. Now you have said you need to look at the core files as this horizontal gallery and setting space between images in not possible. Let us see you update the script and post here so we can try the demo agai.
And I am sorry I cant show you the page as I had to remove your extension because of those handicaps

I have found a FREE alternative to the zoom extension here, looks promising:

We need a URL because the issue is unique - we have not seen it before (on hundreds of WYSIWYG sites). Our primary investigation showed that core file changes were required, but we will investigate again if you can send a URL.

Althernatively, if you install Magic Zoom Plus manually (instead of using the WYSIWYG module), then you will be able to position your thumbnails vertically or horizontally. Follow these video instructions:

Hi,
Dont get me wrong, I want to use your product hence so many queries...
Just a clarification on what you mentioned...

So to have the horizontal image layout and control spacing I need to use the script and not the WB plugin, then whats the point? and the other WB sites using your script are either not using the WB extension (using the core script) or are having only horizontal gallery?

Thanks....look forward to your extension update
Infact there is no control to set gallery horizontally in the extension neither any way to set inter image space so?

Thanks for the link.

The wrapping of images and text onto new lines is caused by other CSS/styles on the page. You can't fix this within the module settings, but you could apply this in the magiczoomplus.css file:

Code: Select all

.MagicZoomPlus { display: inline-block !important; }
Does it work?
me.prosenjeet wrote:...other WB sites using your script are either not using the WB extension (using the core script) or are having only horizontal gallery?
Other sites using the WB extension can have horizontal images. The wrapping on your site is caused by CSS and needs to be overcome by overriding that CSS on your site.

Actually, it's quite difficult to create a WB extension that provides all the features of Magic Zoom Plus (there are over 70 options you can change) that is compatible with old and new versions of WB. New versions of WB are released frequently and so are new versions of Magic Zoom Plus, so keeping an up-to-date working module for WB takes a lot of time. Other platforms such as CS-Cart and Magento are much faster to build and maintain extensions for. We are considering retiring our WB extensions and replacing them with step-by-step text and video tutorials.

All features of Magic Zoom™ and our other tools can be used with WYSIWYG, it's just how you do it that varies depending on the version of WYSIWYG (5/6/7).

Some features must be set up manually as they cannot be done with the module. The integration instructions show the HTML needed for the various features: http://www.magictoolbox.com/magiczoom/integration/ It is relatively straight forward.

If you get stuck, you can contact us for free support. If you decide not to use the tool, use our money-back guarantee to refund your purchase.

The WYSIWYG module will be discontinued this week and replaced with instructions and a video tutorial. We will add a post to this thread once it is live. Sorry that it has taken some time to update the page - it is part of a much larger update that has been under way for the last 2 months.

Thanks,

Steve
