Make a iframe popping up over layergrids

The site is built using layer grids for full responsiveness.
I would like an iframe or image to show up in the middle of the screen over the responsive layergrids on an event..
Similar to a lightbox effect...
Any ideas?

You can trigger a lightbox via links.
You can trigger a dialog or modal layer via events.
